Understanding government budgets is one thing. How to bring it across to the public is another. The county budgets in Kenya have a direct effect on the lives of the inhabitants. It’s money that makes the world turn around.

Training in Nakuru
That is why it’s important that the public understands where the money comes from, and where the county government is spending it on.
In February 2016 I trained for Media Focus on Africa (www.mediafocusonafrica.org), during two days, journalists from Baringo, Busia, Kisumu and Kitui county how best to convey the budget information. The twenty trainees work for print and/or radio.
The training, a first of a total of three, are funded by the Ford Foundation (https://www.fordfoundation.org).

Under my guidance the trainees judged each others work and gave advice in a nice venue in Nakuru.
Judging from the pieces that were send by the participants shortly after the training the message had hit home that the information should be given in simple terms for good understanding.
